In Collaboration with South Boston En Accion, (a non-profit dedicated to relieving the poor, combat community deterioration, advance education, and promote social welfare and leadership potential among low-income households in and around the City of
Boston, Massachusetts.) we are proud to provide the community with a free music workshops for the youth ages 10-17.

Introduction to Piano and Music Theory
Workshop Overview

Foundational Piano Skills: The curriculum begins with an introduction to piano basics, including proper posture, hand positioning, and the identification of keys, establishing a strong foundation for beginners.

Progressive Skill Building: Students advance through lessons on finger numbering, basic scales, and rhythmic values, gradually incorporating more complex elements like treble and bass clef reading.

Rhythm and Timing Mastery: Lessons focus on developing rhythmic skills through note value practice, time signatures, and syncopation, helping students understand and perform rhythm patterns.

Chords and Harmony Introduction: The program introduces major chords, triads, and basic harmony, enabling students to play simple melodies accompanied by chord progressions.

Performance Preparation: The curriculum culminates in learning and performing a two-handed song, integrating all skills developed over the eight weeks for a complete musical experience.
